The Ballad of a Pilgrim, a Poem Written and Read by Johnny L. Dudley

It took about two years for the author Johnny L. Dudley to write a ballad he hoped would capture the essence of faith and scripture. During those first years of learning everything he could about Christ, he dedicated three to five days a week to being alone in the woods where he would study the Scripture, pray, and worship the God of all ages. While doing this, there was a special place he would go to that was about a three mile walk from his home. He would head down an active railroad tract to an isolated place he called his secret place, because it was a beautiful and peaceful setting of very old live oak trees in the middle of a grassy expanse. There, while listening carefully for any divine inspiration the Spirit might give, Johnny began to write ballads and poems. The Ballad of a Pilgrim is a product of these special times and because it’s so close to his heart, he wanted to share it with others.
